In a bid to enhance understanding of the EU's Regulation on deforestation-free products (EUDR), the EU-ASEAN Business Council together with SAP and with the support of the Delegation of the EU to Singapore and Eurocham Singapore, is organising an in-person forum* on 9th June with Ms Astrid Schomaker, Director for Green Diplomacy & Multilateralism at the EU's DG Environment.

From 2024, the EU will require any company that sells goods into the EU to prove their products are not grown on land deforested after 2020. The rules aim to eliminate deforestation from the supply chains of a range of everyday items sold in Europe, and will apply to soy, beef, palm oil, wood, cocoa, coffee, rubber, charcoal, and derived products including leather, chocolate and furniture.

TheEUDR is part of the EU Green Deal and a broader EU strategy to protect the world's forests, especially given that imports to the EU are one of the biggest drivers of global deforestation. However, companies are concerned that complying with the EUDR could be challenging and costly.

Join us on 9th June and hear first hand from the very DG overseeing the EUDR on what it entails, how it will be implemented in practice, and how businesses can ensure compliance.
